El Coco (Playas del Coco) is a coastal community. It is the fastest growing tourist area in the Gulf of Papagayo and one of the most popular vacation destinations for Costa Rican and foreign tourists. You can easily access beaches such as Ocotal, Panama, Hermosa, Avellanas, and Flamingo among others. Come and visit our nearby islands or national parks where you may spot sharks while diving, or encounter huge sea turtles nesting on the beach. “El Coco” is a good place for water activities including diving, sailing tours, sport fishing and surf tours to the world famous sites of Roca Bruja and Ollies Point.
Visiting Rincón de la Vieja National Park, horseback riding through Playas del Coco, surfing, hiking, diving, yacht charter, catamaran tours and adventures in canopy or quad bikes are other activities you might find interesting to do on you next vacation. The climate is warm and dry from November to May, and turns more humid from the end of May and until the beginning of November, with intermittent rains except for October (the only month of more frequent rains). It has an average annual temperature of 27 °C / 80,6 °F.
In El Coco you can find restaurants such as the Hard Rock Cafe, Dolce Vita and the Mediterranean Soda among others. You can enjoy typical Costa Rican food or more international restaurants. You may also want to try buying fresh fish from local fishermen and cooking it in your fully equipped villa kitchen.
You will be woken up to the sound of the birds singing in the morning. Howler monkeys are also common to see in Playas del Coco, so you may also hear and see them. Even just walking through the center of El Coco, you will see birds and different species of butterflies. It is common to see dolphins, turtles, stingrays, and whales in the gulf at any time of the year.
